Our History

Rockingham Union Lodge #27 has a rich history going back over 227 years. The original log structure was erected in 1795.
Since then our lodge building has evolved with the times however our values remain unchanged.

This building, erected circa 1885, occupies the site on E. Market St., just east of Federal Alley, where stood Mason’s Hall, a log structure, erected in 1795.

This a photograph from S. Main St., just south of the intersection with Water St. in 1906.  The Masonic Lodge is at the right (notice the R.U. #27 sign above a Dentist sign).  The Keezell Building (not pictured) next door was under construction at this time.

1990 – Rockingham Union #27 is included on the Harrisonburg City Welcome Sign

The current Master in 1990, Don Bosley, affixes the masonic logo to the City’s Welcome Sign on E. Market St.

1990 – Gulf War Care Package Project

Rockingham Union #27 lodge members packed care packages for U.S. troops serving in the Gulf War.

2016

2016 – Eagle Scout Presentation

A presentation was made at Rockingham Union #27 in support of the Boy Scouts of America.

2019 – Cornerstone Laying Ceremony for St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ

This was the cornerstone laying procession from Rockingham Union Lodge #27 to St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ on S. Main St.
